Carving a Shark from Wood – Art, Sculpture

I have to say that I am very pleased with
how this turned out, if I do say so myself. I still have to put a few more coats of lacquer
on it. I put three coats on and then sanded it back
to try to smooth it out. My goal with this was to try to make it dynamic. It is not necessarily correct proportionally,
but art does not have to replicate reality. I used a little bit of charcoal in the eyes
to define the pupils and put a bit of shadow around the eyeball. I used photos of a grey reef shark as reference. Unfortunately, this wood was more fragile
than I anticipated. Even though the thickness of these fins were
not any thinner than the dolphin I made a while back, I had this pectoral fin break
as well as the tail fin broke twice. That was a bit frustrating, but I overcame
it and it turned out really nicely, I think. Lori! Cam! Come here and tell me… Look at it and tell me how awesome I am! You are so awesome. Good job. Thanks baby. That is nice of you to say. See you, baby. Bye. Have a good day at work. Thanks. Nice suit! Thanks. Looking good! Thanks. If you made it this far, thanks a lot for
watching. Feel free to check out my shops if you would
like to buy some art or some Cammie’s Garage swag. Hopefully, you will like and subscribe and
tune in next time to Cammie’s Garage.

lovely work! and thanks for showing how you added on the fins, I noticed you using both the turbo plane and the holy galahad ( I think) have you a preference? I have the turbo plane, good for rough stuff but in England the galahad bits are a bit hard to come by so not sure if they are worth the investment. great job and thanks for sharing

Piece of honest feedback that I believe would make your channel better:
    – A better microphone.
    – At least 1080p resolution of the final video.
    – As cool as this shark is, it doesn’t make such a wow effect on YouTube as some of the figures that seem impossible to be made out of wood.

I love the movement of this! And the torched grain pattern adds such a neat layer. Very cool piece!

Your face shield was really nice too. Did you make that yourself? Put the power of the Sith into your work!! You will be Cami-Maul.

Wow! That's beautiful! You're really inspiring me. I once carved a fish and actually sold it, but it was nothing like that. Amazing!

Beautiful work. Questions! What is that large hand saw you used? How long have you been carving wood? Thanks!

When you done carving the Wood what do you do With it

Beautifully done. You should try carving some thing out of basswood. It’s a hardwood but hardly any grain and easy to carve.
    Keep up the beautiful work.
