How to Draw a Dolphin Underwater With Color Pencils – Wie malt man einen Delfin unter Wasser

Hello my friends and welcome
to another Tuesday of tutorial. I am Leonardo Pereznieto
and today we will draw a dolphin. Let´s start by freely sketching
some waves with blue color. Imagine that you deep yourself
in the blue sea, of the Caribbean. While you draw, it is perfectly ok
to feel and to dream. With a pencil, we draw the general shape of the dolphin. And then, we do the detail,
such as the tail, the fins, the snout and the eye. With a light blue pencil, we may do
the top of the dolphin, which will be hit by the light. I´ll erase some of the graphite
pencils, so that this doesn´t blotch. And with gray we shadow
the darker areas. Drawing it´s such a pleasure
that I’d do it even if I had to pay to do this job. Good! With a lighter gray we´ll do
the lower part of the dolphin. To render the interesting light
and shadow play that sometimes happens under the water, we may
draw some gray lines, and then some white highlights. That looks very good! With a well defined line, we separate
what is going to be seen above water from what is under water. With different tones of blue, we draw the surface. With white we render the effect
of the form of the waves and some reflections. We may apply several layers of blue,
one on top of the other, as needed, in order to lose the grain of the paper
and therefore, making your drawing more realistic. With short lines and texture
you may simulate, the motion of water. I will confess something to you,
I chose blue paper so it would give me the color of the ocean
and so, I would´t have to draw it. I´m talking about the lower part. However, now that I look at it,
there is too much difference between the tone of the wave
and the tone of the paper. So, I will have to fill it in after all. It will be time consuming,
but that´s ok because in the end, the result will be even better,
as I will add more tones. Had I left the original color of the paper,
I would have done the light beams with a light blue or with white. As we mentioned, you may apply
layers of different blues. This will give you a variety of hues,
and it will also help you hide the grain of the paper. Excellent! I like how it is looking. Let´s give it the last details,
the last touches, and it´s ready! If you loved it,
please give it a LIKE, share it to your friends,
and subscribe to Fine Art-Tips. You know where to follow me,

I love your videos, especially those fantasy like (but I watch all your video really!) They help so much on my own works! Those really inspired me! Do you think you could make a video using acrylic paint? I've been struggling a lot while using it and it would be a great help if you could give me advise! Anyway you are an amazing artist and I really like your artist approach!

What I really like is that the beams of light wich are shining through the water are are changing their direction. That is very realistic.

It is a bit surreal insofar as the viewer is seeing both the top surface of the water (as he would see from above) and the dolphin as seen from beneath the surface. God might see all that but a human viewer could not.
