How to Draw a Polar Bear Under Water, With Color Pencils – Drawing Bubbles

Hello my friends and welcome
to another Tuesday of tutorial. I am Leonardo Pereznieto and today
we are going to draw a polar bear, under water. We start by sketching
the general shape with white pastel. With pastel because it is much easier
to erase than color pencils. The pastel is dry like chalk
while the color pencils are oily. I corrected the snout which was
thinner and now also the head which is a little bit smaller,
and the ears… are just a little lower. While sketching with pastels
or with graphite pencil, don´t be afraid of making mistakes,
it can be easily erased. The eye goes about here…
and this is starting to look like a bear. That´s good! And now with short strokes
let´s do the hair. We start with the areas
that catch the most light. And therefore, will be lighter. We can do this also
with the pastel, as it has a more intense tone. And now with the black
of the color pencils we can do the darker areas
and some shadows. And we come back to the trusty
pastel for the air bubbles. Generally they have a bright area and a little light spot on the opposite side. Good! Let´s do many of these,
it´s so fun! We use the black on the same way
with short strokes, to give shadows to the fur. Now we can switch to the white
of the color pencils. This is not as white as the pastel
as I mentioned to you before but it gives us the opportunity
to do other tones. It is a real pleasure to draw,
I love it! And I believe is important
as the roll of the artist in society to share your passion, happiness
and energy with the people you are in contact. Let´s infect them with life,
so that they too, can be happy. I would love to know from you
in the comments, what do you think about the roll of the artist
in society. Ok, good! Let´s go back to the bear
and continue working on the lights with the white
and the shadows with the black while constructing the fur. The list of materials is in the
information below the video. In this area of the snout
the lines should be even shorter. Very good! And now to give the underwater
atmosphere, let´s do some reflections that will be on the surface…
using white and blue, like this. Excellent! If you enjoyed it
please give it a LIKE, share it to your friends
and subscribe to Fine Art-Tips, you know where to follow me,
the links are below. And I will see you
on Tuesday 🙂 Subtitled by Grethel Trejo

I believe the role of an artist is to bring emotion & inspiration to others. To make them think or imagine. I prefer to be the type that takes them from reality for a while 🙂

That is just beautiful. When someone has talent such as you do it is your duty to share it with the rest of the world. A skill like this can bring a lot of happiness to a lot of people and sharing it on here gives you a wide audience to entertain. Thank you!

Awwwwww!! So cute! and so realistic! I feel as if I can swim up to the cuddly bear and give him a big hug when looking at this 🙂 and the role of an artist in society is to give perspective, share and bring out emotions in not only the artist but also the viewer, and create beauty in the world. I absolutely love art, I love creating things and looking at others work especially watching them create it, which is why I love these videos 🙂

I think artist have an important role, no matter what kind of art. They share feelings, impressions and experience with others. I see it when I visit the Kindergarten or even the rest home (Is it right? I had to translate it… I mean "Altersheim" in german :D) when I show the kids my drawings or play guitar with them. They enjoy it and ask about the songs or the animals i drew, when I heard or saw it, what it is and a lot more.
And the elders tell me their storys. Once I showed one a picture of a lion and he told me stories about the years he was in africa. It was awesome!
for myself I can just say: I love being an artist. I lve all the emotions you can share and you can get and all the stories behind every picture or song.
By the way, beautiful pic and greetings from Germany,
    Jojo

Quick question: is there any benefit in shading the areas before drawing the fur? Ex: use the pastel lightly and uniformly on the birghter areas and then using the same pastel to do sharper more intense lines (the fur).

Society without artist  would not have  beauty. Although I am not an artist I am trying to learn. I am a beginner wood carver. I wish i had started 50 years ago. I would be good by now.
I enjoy watching a master work.

Love your work and your happy, positive attitude! Beautiful! For me, the role of the artist has many facets. One is the unique interpretation of an idea or subject and another is using one's talent to get people to stop and appreciate the creative source. We are so busy in life, rushing through our days, checking off the list and sometimes forgetting about the beauty around us. Art makes us stop and appreciate it.

I love your art but mostly I love your personality, see you dont just put a art peice out there you take the time on every single video to read and comment back on multiple comments and questions you take the time to try helping those who seek your help, its like having a doctor who truely cares about your wellness. just a beautiful soul, I would love it if you drew a ghostly soul presence in the northern lights or something to represent your dedication to helping people.

It's more amazing then anything I've seen. I'm actually really interested: Did you see a picture of that bear and then draw it yourself or did you come up with this draw from your mind? because it is enchanting to see someone who can unite with the nature and the animals like that.
Love your work! Keep doing what you're doing, it's incredible.

Well I think that the artist is supposed to represent the society he lives in, he has a very specific part in the criticizes of society, his aim is to embody the problems and the qualities of his society.
But the artist can also draw his personal vision of life, or at least of his life. But that's just the way that I will describe the artist nowadays… 🙂

Being a very serious person, I have a belief that artists have an obligation to the people; we create things that are unique, we can make people happy, we can offer escapism, we can send powerful messages and give voices to neglected minority groups or we can offer insight into the hardships of individuals. How we use this ability is unique, it is dictated by our individuality and our experiences, but we all serve humanity, as well as preserve humanity, especially in these modern times when many traits of humanity are damned by the majority or washed away in fear that making something too human will ruin its marketing potential or make a nation or group look weak.

I came to this belief while bringing meaning to my own suffering. I went through so much on my own, with nobody who could relate to me. I am now in a position where I might be able to help people with the insight I gained from those experiences, and it makes years of hardships worth it. This is what I want to become, and my purpose to be, whether by fate or choice is irrelevant to me now.

The prismacolor pencils seem to work well on toned paper… I don´t have Prismacolor pencils since I am using Polychromos colored pencils and I am not really satisfied to use them on toned paper… Have you ever compared both on toned paper?

I cannot say what the most important role of the artist in society today is, but I do know that a world without artists would be very boring, uninspirational and sad. Your art and your tutorials makes me smile. So beautiful! 😀 And now I feel like drawing again – I tried the watercolour eagle tutorial, and was surprised how it came alive as I followed your tips and hints. Actually I was like; "did I make this??" Thanks for encouraging and inspirational videos! And this polar bear is amazing! 😀

I think Artists in society teach people to dare to dream, and hope and make those dreams a reality. Artists are pioneers, they are like flames in the darkness… They are dreamers and storytellers. I see Art as a language that speaks to everyone, without words… I love how with a stroke of my pencil or brush I can make children squeal with delight when they see a bunny or a mouse pop on to a blank piece of paper… I love how Art is like magic and it enthralls people to look at a picture for a long while, and then walk away with a dream that will enthrall them for years to come…

Creative people are able to see and feel the vivid passions of life that would be completely unknown to society if there weren't any artists willing to express themselves. On the flip side, there are many creative people who wish to express themselves but can't, because nobody taught them how.

Your videos are so amazing, because they are simple and clear to understand, and yet every piece shown is amazingly smooth and breathtakingly beautiful. It's because of how simple and fun, as well as awe-inspiring, your method of teaching others about art is that makes us want to go out and fill the world with our art too.
It ain't gonna be pretty art, but we're still learning 😉
