How to Draw a Shark With Color Pencils – With Mermaid

Hello my friends and welcome
to another Tuesday of tutorial! I am Leonardo Pereznieto and today
we will draw a shark with color pencils, and we are also going to finish
the mermaid of last week. This is what we already did last week.
If you didn’t see that video I recommend you to watch it, with the link
I provide here, and at the end of this tutorial. Here will be the shark. We begin by sketching the outline
of the figure. The tail, the eye, the mouth
grrr… Oh no the sharks don´t growl do they? [laughs]
I actually don´t know what they do, but what
I know is that they are beautiful and imposing. We correct and clean up
the lines. The tail should be a little
bit bigger and in this shape. With a black color pencil
we begin to shade. They have the upper side
darker, while the lower is lighter. Like so… By the way I want the tail of
the mermaid to be transparent in this area and to look
almost like a soft tissue. I will shade the bottom part
with the same pencil but going lighter on it. You can achieve it by doing
a pattern of small circles or lines or scribbles [laughs]. And we do the fins. Good! Like this. And now I switch to a dark blue
pencil to integrate the shark with the rest of the blue drawing the paper,
the mermaid, etc. And we refine the teeth. Let´s make it as if the fin
and the shark, reflect here on the lower surface side of the water. And here, I soften a line. The upper fin should be a little
bit wider. Much better! And with a dry white pastel,
I give the bright reflections that happen underwater. Sometimes you can see a grid pattern
and where the lines cross, appears a brighter spot. But of course this may vary,
very much, depending on the Sun, the water
surface and the object. With an oil pastel, we can
give it even brighter lights. We draw some bubbles
and let´s not forget the gill, which is of course one of the main
characteristics of the shark. I want to have here some
rays of light. Let´s use a ruler so that we
don´t end up with a crocked rays. Very good! And here some little fish. And here another one…
and another. Each with a white reflection,
of course. ¡Excelente! [laughs]. Let´s give it the last touches,
and it´s ready! If you enjoyed it,
please give it a LIKE, share it to your friends
and subscribe to Fine Art-Tips. You know where to follow me,
the links are below. And I will see you,

The shark looks amazing, it's sharkingly (shockingly) good ๐Ÿ˜€ The reflections of the water on the shark are a nice touch, and so are the rays of light. When you were doing the details on the shark it reminded me of Marcello Barenghi's shark drawing.

They told me to keep swimming, but the sea is getting rough
I just don't think that this life will ever be enough
For a lonely misfit, a homesick wanderer
But there's no place for this lost ponderer
My arms are becoming tired, I'd like to just float
Let the smooth sand cover my body and my breathing will slow
Choking on salt water never tasted so sweet
Don't look down, the darkness swept away your feet
They told me not to give in
But my body feels so weak
The ocean floor is where you'll find me
    Ninety feet deep.
