Model Heinkel 111 P-2 – 1/72 Airfix – Painting
Before painting, we have to mask plane’s clear parts. I’ll use Tamiya tape. I’ll put a masking fluid in the middle. Now’s the time to use primer. I want to show you a new painting technique on the bottom side of the plane. I need to paint it black first. It would be faster to use black primer here, but I don’t have one. On the up side I’ll use pre-shading technique. I’ll add some white paint on bigger panels. This technique is called black basing. I have to cover black surface with highly thinned base paint, but not evenly. The airbrush should move randomly. The surface will look a little like marble. And again – masking. Masking is boring, so let’s skip it ;). Tamiya XF-61 Dark Green. Some of you may think it would be easier to cover the whole plane with a lighter colour and then add darker patches. Unfortunately this model’s both base colours are dark. Besides, I would lose half of the pre-shading this way. So, masking again. Tamiya XF-27 Black Green. And that’s it. In the next episode I’ll show you the weathering. Subscribe to my channel not to miss it. Check out my social media for more information. Cheers!
