Model Heinkel 111 P-2 – 1/72 Airfix – Painting

Before painting, we have to mask plane’s clear parts. I’ll use Tamiya tape. I’ll put a masking fluid in the middle. Now’s the time to use primer. I want to show you a new painting technique on the bottom side of the plane. I need to paint it black first. It would be faster to use black primer here, but I don’t have one. On the up side I’ll use pre-shading technique. I’ll add some white paint on bigger panels. This technique is called black basing. I have to cover black surface with highly thinned base paint, but not evenly. The airbrush should move randomly. The surface will look a little like marble. And again – masking. Masking is boring, so let’s skip it ;). Tamiya XF-61 Dark Green. Some of you may think it would be easier to cover the whole plane with a lighter colour and then add darker patches. Unfortunately this model’s both base colours are dark. Besides, I would lose half of the pre-shading this way. So, masking again. Tamiya XF-27 Black Green. And that’s it. In the next episode I’ll show you the weathering. Subscribe to my channel not to miss it. Check out my social media for more information. Cheers!

Ładnie idzie… Pytanie, nie ma strachu, że przy odklejaniu taśmy bez uprzedniego pojechania lakierem farba odejdzie razem z taśmą maskującą?

Based on your video, I favor the results you obtained using the pre-shading method over that of the black basing. What are your thoughts about the results you've achieved?

Great build indeed! I have just started the same model of my own but with a paint brush. May I ask what kind of airbrush you use?

Wait how come you only mask the outlines and only use masking fluid for some windows, the other windows arent masked? Or is the fluid clear when dry?
