Turn your photo into a sketch – Photoshop in 60 seconds

Hello and welcome to GFX tutorials!
In this video you will learn how to turn a photo into a sketch under 60 seconds First step is to desaturate the photo I’m going to select the layer and press Ctrl+Shift+U Then I’m going to duplicate it, pressing and shortcut Ctrl+J Set the blending mode to Color Dodge and then invert the image by using Ctrl+I shortcut To give it a nice sketch effect, I’m gonna go to go to Filters ->Others and select Minimum I’m going to set the radius to 3 pixels and hit OK you notice here a small glitch we can fix that, by selecting the first layer adding curves adjustment layer and then increase the contrast And there you have it! Now you know how to turn your favorite photo into sketch in less than 60 seconds

Do you know any way to make a photograph look like an inked (comic style) drawing without having to draw the lines by hand? Is there a quick and easy way to color the drawing without covering up the black lines?

I found these video tutorials on creating an inked drawing effect. I just don’t know where to take it from there in order to color the drawing. Would the coloring process be easier if I make the white areas transparent? Do you know how to make the white areas transparent while keeping smooth and clean black lines? I really want to avoid jagged lines and a white outline/fringe surrounding my lines.

Please let me know if you find any useful tutorial that meets these criteria.

Thank You – worked far better fro me than other methods. Did have to rewind several times to see where to go for some of the changes as I am not familiar with the layout of photoshop – also on my version of photoshop curves was called Levels.
