Tutorial | How to draw, color a realistic nose with colored pencils – step by step | Emmy Kalia

Hi guys in this video i will show you the
techniques i have used drawing this nose with colored pencils. And before you ask please check the description
box below for the names of all of the materials i have used. First I draw the contour of the nose with
burnt sienna. than i slowly build up the colors of the skin tones. I start with the lightest colors and color
with light pressure. Now lets make this nose look rounder. I keep adding darker values to the sides and
the tip of the nose. I still color with light pressure. Before you try drawing a nose for your self,
look at a picture of a nose or look at your own nose and observe closely. look at every detail and at where the nose
is darker or lighter. This should help you while drawing. before i blend the colors together i keep
on adding colors where i want it to be darker. to make the nostril very dark i don’t use
black but i mix dark brown with dark blue. Now I’m going to blend the colors together. first with a layer of burnt ochre 10% and
with medium pressure. and now with a layer of buff titanium with
medium to hard pressure. with a pencil eraser i erase the colored pencil
for some highlights always add highlights to the nose and don’t forget the tip of
the nose. and than i blend with a white colored pencil
so there aren’t any hard lines as you can see there are a lot of layers and
it takes a lot of time to color and blend the skin tones. Patience is important. Try to enjoy while drawing, put some music
on and think about how it will look when you are finished. so that’s it, i really hope this video was
helpful for you. let me know if it was, i’d like to hear.
and i you haven’t subscribed yet please do.. a lot more videos are coming. Thanks for watching bye.

ik zou graag kleur potloden willen die wel goed zijn maar wel wat goedkoper dan die van faber castell, heb je een idee watvoor soort potloden dat kunnen zijn? ik vind je tekeningen trouwens super mooi en ik leer er veel van😊

Amazing work Emmy! Thanks for sharing. You mention that you began drawing in August of 2014. Have you received formal instruction or are you completely self taught? I guess I'm just curious how you've been able to develop so much talent in such a short amount of time. I look forward to your next video.

Wat bedoel je met 10% en medium pressure? Hoe kom je dan aan die 10% bedoel ik, want medium pressure is toch 50%?
En is een buff titanium potlood een soort blender potlood zoals Derwent die heeft?

Can we substitute some of the colours for colours that we have? And also, does it matter if you don't have the different percentages of the colour?

It has always amazed me when I watch these types of tutorials, but the one question burning in my mind is attention to detail.  Do you use some sort of template in your mind or do you use a picture or photo to copy from. I would be bowled over if you said everything you draw comes from the mind. I don't(as yet) have that ability and years ago, and I mean years ago when I was just a kid, I did a bit of copy drawing and was in some cases good at it. But to do it from a physical image in my head would be another dimension of which I'm still trying to find that path.

I had a doubt….earlier when I had to shade a face first I used to apply all the base colors and then blend with water and then I used to repeat it till I get the result…..is this method correct and also can we use Prussian blue instead of dark indigo

Hi, thank you for your great tutorials! I see you use bristol smooth paper, many other colored pencil artists use bristol vellum instead. What do you suggest to use if I want to achieve a smooth finish using Polychromos?

Emily, you do very good tutorials, and I enjoy watching them. You are thorough in your instruction, something many are not. I do wish the volume on this one had been recorded higher, as I have my volume set on the highest and can barely hear. Speak louder, too, Dear, and the videos will get better and better. Keep up the great work!

How do you know what colors would work with certain skin tones? I'm new to drawing realism with color, I only know how to do charcoal. So I have no knowledge on the color grid.
